Time to make home ice in Philly hell for opposing teams.

Mediocre play at home the last few seasons needs to stop.

Looks like a good week for Bryz to turn it around.

I really wish Jagr had decided to miss another couple of games, rather than try to play through it.

After the good effort at Nashville, despite the loss, they need another against the Wild. The next step, besides continuing to string together good, hard working games, is to start tightening up in their own zone and the neutral zone.

It's been far to easy get gain access to the Flyers zone lately for opposing teams.

You know, I have been thinking and rethinking the goalie situation. I want to see Bryz turn it around, obviously. But I'm also thinking that Bob should get a start or two against the better teams, because he's been getting mostly bottom feeders.

I think that Giroux will always go through valleys like this in his career simply because he is a small guy. They balls out way he plays will take a toll on him his whole career. It is what it is.

At the end of the day.. we are paying two goalies a combined 11mil... I dont care which of them is in the net.. all I care about is who gives us the best chance at wining right now.. and unfortunately that man is Bob..

Bryz better grab that thermos.

Yes, I pointed this out last week when evereybody was fired up about Bob playing so well and he did play awesome but it was against the 14th and 15th seeded teams in the East.

That is no disrespect to Bob because he played stellar.

That's why I want Bob to play against the Bostons of the world. If he's going to carry the water, then he needs to start playing against those teams.

Not at all. Bob's played great. I want to see him do it against the better teams, and not just the Rangers. He goes out and plays like he did against the Bruins as he did against Carolina, then you have better data on the kid.

Bill, great job on charing Giroux's January blah's. I would rather an annual slump to recurring injury any day.

What gives with the team D and the thoughts on improving somehow on the blue line? Now that JvR is hurt, not that I saw him as a trade option, what can get cobbled together or does Homer look to go the draft pick rental route again?

Well I think both will have to come up big this weekend.

Saturday NJ followed by Boston is a tough weekend.

any news on JVR beyond he's out with a conky?

Hoping it's a Giroux/Read type deal, out a week or so and back he comes healthy.

Poor bastard is having a tough injury riddled season.

Really tough weekend for us. We really need to start to play better at home. Our road record has been fantastic and unlike Boston for example, our sched has been loaded with road games. It's going to start to flip now, and we have to make the WFC a hard place to win going forward.

Flyers do not have enough size and grit to play that type of game if you are suggesting they need to be more physical. I actually think they are in pretty good shape and just going through a mid season stretch. The top line is getting a lot of defensive attention. The other lines have stepped up pretty well, especially the young guys, they are going to be fine.

Does the well run dry soon with the young guys? They're not used to the length and grueling nature of an NHL regular season schedule.

They need to be a bit more physical, not necessarily the Broad Street Bullies.

More just make sure the other team has to work it's ass off for a full sixty minutes. Been giving away some point at home that they should have had or at least exacted a higher price for.

I agree with that perspective. I was at the game in Ottawa where the Senators came back from being down 4-2. I thought the Flrers were strong and highly skilled during the first two periods. I thought the Senators just out worked them in the third period. In the end I thought this would not have happened if the Flyers had had one big body to clear the front of the net.

I think Lavy has handled the goalie situation pretty well considering what has been going on. I think he should give Bryzgalov a number of consecutive starts and if he doesnt get the job done, its time to move to Bob for an extended period of time.

I want to see Bobrovsky do as well as he has against Montreal and Carolina against Boston. That's the real test. Great numbers against bad teams are good, but you aren't playing the Canes or Isles in the playoffs. Need to see Bob do well against the better teams in the NHL.

While I dont disagree with you, I think this is the time to get Bryzgalov going. If he cant get it done over the next 8-10 games than its time to seriously consider going with Bob more after the ASB.
